Phase Two Construction Underway This Winter
January 5, 2026 – Phase two construction of Montgomery County’s $40 million project to improve travel, safety, and access on Ridge Pike between Belvoir and Chemical roads in Plymouth Township began in early December 2025 and will continue through fall 2026.
A traffic shift on December 7, 2025, moved all traffic onto the newly reconstructed and widened westbound side of Ridge Pike between Industrial Way and Belvoir Road (see graphic on right), initiating Stage 2 construction that will reconstruct the eastbound roadway.
With traffic now on the westbound side of the new bridge carrying Ridge Pike over the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks (see below), the County’s contractor has begun preparations for the demolition of the eastbound side of the bridge. The preparations include constructing access roads on both sides of the tracks and various utility relocations. The majority of the old bridge is expected to be demolished by spring 2026.
Utility work this winter includes:
- Verizon – Continue to relocate aerial lines along the eastbound side of Ridge Pike.
- PECO Gas – Relocate gas mains along the eastbound side of Ridge Pike. This work will impact the intersection at Carland Road and Ridge Pike. Full access to Carland Road will be maintained.
- PECO Electric – Complete installation of their new duct bank along Alan Wood Road. Begin another new duct bank to be installed on westbound Ridge Pike between Alan Wood Road and Plymouth Creek in late winter.
Additional work this winter at the Ridge Pike bridge over Plymouth Creek near Alan Wood Road includes replacement of approach slabs and expansion dams, deck modifications for the new approach slabs, and evaluating the bridge deck and performing repairs if necessary.
Montgomery County and the Ridge Pike construction team continue to coordinate with businesses within the work zone, including the Royal Farms construction team, throughout the winter for the new facility at the eastern corner of the intersection of Alan Wood Road and Ridge Pike.
Motorists may encounter occasional lane restrictions on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and at night from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM on Ridge Pike during construction.
Visit this regularly for notifications on when nighttime and weekend work will occur. You may also call 445-266-2826 with any project-related questions or concerns.
The County thanks the traveling public and the businesses along this corridor for their continued patience and understanding during this construction project.
